also I have been listening to the new Matthew Dear record - Black City - it is good but so far i am not as in love with it as his prior - Asa Breed
and as a result of watching the movie Synth Britannia and working on a play called Speech and Debate I have been digging through old eighties pop vaults... it is quite enjoyable - i wish i had a copy of the Depeche Mode album Speak and Spell... while digging thru the old stuff i was listening to one of my favorites from the early eighties Jive My Baby from Duck Rock by Malcom McLaren it seems to presage both the album Graceland and The Sugarcubes - i started reading a little bit about the album and McLarens Inspiration and what various folks had to say and my reading led me to Mahlathini & The Mahotella Queens
- so great!
